During the medieval period and in heraldry, the garb of wheat represented the more domestic virtues of prosperity, hospitality and hope.

gilded helm
A part of the warrior's paraphernalia, the gilded helm directly suggested the social level of its bearer: as a charge, it stood for either a knight or another type of nobleman. It symbolized chivalry, wisdom and protection.
glissant
The term `glissant' applies to serpents or serpent-like creatures which are depicted horizontally, undulating on a shield. It symbolizes both prudence and wisdom.
gryphon
