Being sociable means being able to easily integrate in a group or a community. It will be easier for a sociable person to bond with others and make friends than a shy person. A sociable person will easily fit in any social group.

This quality is important to evolve in a society : one can bond with a lot of people which can bring them happiness, love and friendship, but also give professional or academic help.

A sociable or friendly person is loved by others because they make great company and they love helping people (cf generosity).

Sociability and friendship are considered to be positive values. However, they are only positive if one’s intentions are true (cf sincerity) : some people are nice with others (see kindness) only because they expect something in return. We may also ask ourselves if being sociable and kind always implies that we expect something in return, like a professional opportunity, or just being loved by others.
